You're right jglynn...
Most people here have been cool about this stuff.
Many have joined and become great members. Many come and lurk (like even old cliff himself... thanks for reading my reviews Cliffy!). However people want to do it, its fine by me.

Where in Italy? I went once and was in the vento region in a small town right near the base of Mt Grappa (I was not yet on the wagon so was able to drink Grappa on Mt Grappa), which is in the foothills of the Dolomites about an hour drive NW of Venice. Italy is a really nice country have fun.

although it is still in the research phase, we are thinking about 1 week in the NE & NW and one week maybe in sicily. nothing has been finalized (probably since it is MY job to research the honeymoon - lol). we are basically trying to stay away from the "big cities" other than a day trip or so. want relaxation, scenery, etc.

since you were in the NW, any suggestions my friend?? (other than staying away from the vineyards - lol)

Don, dont miss Sicily, there are some very cool things to do around Mt. Etna and the Gole Alcantara. You can stay in the touristy but very pleasant village of Taormina and eat Pesce Spada Affumicato every night!

You could stay at the San Domenico Palace, if Koch cant find you a cheaper room...

If you go anywhere near Bassano in Veneto region you should definitely check it out, it is an off the beaten path small city.

Oh yeah - they speak Italian, and (at least when I was there 10 years ago) they loved Americanos.

damn Italians speaking Italian!!! How rude and inconsiderate :)

maybe i should go to the Middle East instead since my fiance speaks fluent Arabic (she even thinks in Arabic language - very odd to me - i can barely think in English)

True story, Kochman has had the pleasure of interacting with many good people from the Middle East, Arabics included, and knows fluent Italian.
I myself know English, have never been out of the country, and am somewhat of a redneck, but I sure do like this Grateful Dead music.
I hear Dick's Picks 18 is a good one.

Actual Direwolf, I lived in Italy for 4 years (in the north), and would be happy to discuss it with you via PMs.
I toured extensively, seeing most of the country, including Sicily and Sardinia.
